Why the TISFD Framework Matters for Your Business

People at the Centre — Why the TISFD Framework Matters for Your Business

A landmark moment in sustainability disclosure has arrived. Here's what the TISFD Beta Framework means for businesses, what it asks of you, and how to engage.

A new chapter for the 'S' in ESG

For years, sustainability disclosure has been dominated by climate. Nature is catching up. But people — workers, communities, those affected across global supply chains — have been the missing piece of a coherent, mandatory reporting picture.

That's changing. The Taskforce on Inequality and Social-related Financial Disclosures (TISFD) has released its Beta Framework (Version 0.1) — a globally relevant disclosure standard that puts people at the heart of business decision-making, and signals a new era of integrated reporting for corporates and governments alike.

What problem is the TISFD solving

Businesses already have a responsibility to respect human rights. Most recognize this in principle. But in practice, many lack the information systems to identify where their most significant impacts lie, let alone manage them or factor them into decision-making.

"The TISFD Framework aims to make people-related impacts, dependencies, risks and opportunities more visible, more coherent and more useful for decision-making." — TISFD Framework

The old adage rings true: you cannot manage what you cannot see. People-related risks — from labour conditions in supply chains to inequality and community impacts — are often invisible until they become a crisis. The TISFD Framework is designed to change that.

Supply chains are where it gets real

One of the TISFD Framework's most important recognitions is that the most material impacts, dependencies, risks and opportunities facing organizations rarely sit solely inside the four walls of a business. They arise through value chains and supply chains.

Procurement decisions and business relationships are key drivers of impacts on people. And those impacts, in turn, create financial risks and opportunities for businesses and investors — and can contribute to broader, system-level risks.

Due diligence and meaningful stakeholder engagement aren't just good practice under this framework — they're essential tools for identifying impacts, mitigating risks, and unlocking new opportunities.

People, nature, and climate — connected, not siloed

The TISFD also emphasizes something that's been missing from the reporting landscape: the deep interlinkages between people, nature and climate. These aren't separate issues that can be managed independently. A community affected by deforestation. Workers displaced by flooding. Supply chains disrupted by drought.

The TISFD Framework reinforces that integrated thinking — and integrated reporting is the only way to get the full picture.

Good news for those already reporting

If your organization has already invested in climate or nature disclosure, the TISFD is good news. It's designed to complement — not duplicate — the frameworks you're already working with.

Its recommendations draw on the ISSB Standards, GRI and ESRS, and align with the familiar four-pillar structure used by both TCFD and TNFD:

  • Governance
  • Strategy
  • Impact and Risk Management
  • Metrics and Targets

This structural alignment means organizations investing in climate and nature disclosure are well-placed to extend their frameworks to cover people-related issues — without starting from scratch.

How do I get involved in the TISFD?

The public consultation on TISFD Beta Version 0.1 is open until 31 July 2026 — and this is your opportunity to shape a framework that will define the global baseline for people-related disclosure.

You can engage through:

  • The TISFD Alliance — a platform for learning, dialogue and early input into the framework
  • The public consultation process — submit your organization's feedback directly
  • Pilot testing — participate in testing the beta Framework in practice

How givvable can help you act on TISFD

Frameworks like TISFD create the roadmap — but turning disclosure intent into action requires data. Specifically, it requires visibility into supplier performance on human rights, modern slavery, labor conditions and broader responsible sourcing issues.

givvable is built for exactly this. We help organizations move from compliance to confidence — with real-time supplier intelligence across climate, human rights and nature-related domains.

Whether you need to run a materiality assessment, screen suppliers for modern slavery risk and mitigating actions, or engage your supply chain to drive improvement, givvable has the tools to support you.

Get in touch to find out how givvable can support your TISFD readiness and broader disclosure goals.
