Two data resources on ESG disclosure come together to make reporting easier

December 17, 2019

Two initiatives providing data resources on ESG disclosure have come together to help companies understand what, where and how to report sustainability information.

Carrot & Sticks and the Reporting Exchange now have aligned taxonomy and terminology so that content across the two resources are consistently categorized and easier to access. The objective is to strengthen business and investor decision-making by improving the effectiveness of ESG reporting.

Together these initiatives provide overviews of hundreds of reporting provisions covering the world’s 70 largest economies, including mandatory and voluntary requirements and guidance from regulators, capital markets, professional associations, industry bodies and other organizations.

This development supports SDG 12.6 and benefits those reporting on ESG by reducing market confusion and provide comparable information to businesses, policymakers and investors.

[FYI: SDG target 12.6 requires members to encourage companies, especially large and transnational companies, to adopt sustainable practices and to integrate sustainability information into their reporting cycle.]
